3! visit number 3!

Visit number 3!!! it was really nice and productive! after the insistence of Jen, Kike and Gianki agree to join us for this week visit.. when they arrived they seem to be discouraged, but they started having fun when Luis, the kid of last week, arrived, because like all boys, started to play arround and things like that.

Like last week we return to the first and last zone, the two of it had a little bit of garbage that we picked up, then we went to the part of the Estero that we had previously program, where we found the same garbage as in the other places (cans, bags, bottles, etc.), but also where the quantity of garbage was twice the amount we recollected before, we finished this visit with 4 bags each! this time we stayed like 4 and a half hours... we finished extremelly tired!

At the end we sat down and started talking about many subjects related with the activity, and asked them a question, related with maturiry, that Cele and i had thought before.

- ¿On what depends our wellbeing?

They told us that it depends on that of the environment because we live in a place that needs to be well care for our own benefit, and for the benefit of all the other species that lives with us.

Cele and me agree with that and we thought that if only with this 3 visits we had managed to get together some people and make them concious about it, if we do more days of social labour, we would have a big group of productive participants. So we decided that after the exams week we were going to continue with the labour constantly.

Finally, i had learned with this experience that with persistence you can convince people to join you in the labour for theire and your own good.

Sooo... you will be seeing more about my labour in the future...!!! wish me luck!

  1. Gabriela - You really started writing in this blog 3 days before it needed to be turned in, which is why there are 0 comments about your social action from your classmates. The environment is an extremely important area to work in but what you have done with this assignment will have few lasting effects if any. You are a very capable person and you could easily have spoken with the people who live around the estero to find ways to help keep it permanently clean, or handed out some pamphlets about how the estero is affected by the garbage in the area. You could have done any number of things really but pick up garbage does not connect you to people, it does very little to help you reflect on your attitudes and your role in society. I don't understand why you waited so long to start doing something, and then when you started you did not do something that really engaged you in working with others.

In this blog there is very little reflection, and very little devoted to broaden or deepen concepts we learned in class. There are no comments, so it is hard for you to have answered your classmates and learned from them.
